Birthday Boy

Before waking up to being a year older.
Since kids are so eager to help, we started a tradition for birthdays. We thought it'd be neat to have our kids help make their birthday cake. I almost just went out and bought a cake but luckily I couldn't find any Toy Story cakes, so the tradition lived on! Daniel loved it, and made it clear he didn't need any help stirring. Everytime Cecilio would try to help him stir, he'd get really upset and hug the bowl! To see last year's pictures click here.
Ta-dah! Finished product. Not too bad.

We sang to him later that evening, it was so cute watching his expressions.

I've come to the conclusion that Danny's not crazy about attention and when we sang Happy Birthday, it was confirmed. I think he gets that from both of us. It was too funny.

"Another year older, I'm sooooooooo old!"

Putting the tent together. Ooo, what's inside Danny?

"Sorry Danny, all good parties come to an end."
I want to thank everyone for making Danny's day special. Thank you for your phone calls, comments, and visits. He really enjoyed his day.

A Day at the Ranch

My uncle Kevin has a ranch in Sierra Blanca which is about two hours from here. We've never been out there and it just so happened that he needed a ride up there and we had the day off.

Here's the home, it's nice and cozy!

As soon as Kevin pulled in, these cows were there to greet us. It's funny how they knew. Hi cows!

Danny watching the cows.

Danny had a blast on the ranch. He loved not having to be in his car seat and learning how to drive!

Funny story. When we got there, Kevin had to go around the ranch to turn on the water pumps and to give the cows and horses their treat. This is how he rounds them up, and it works! As soon as the cows and horses heard Kevin's truck they flocked to him. It was so funny to see this huge herd of cattle following the truck.

Afterwards, Danny got to ride on a horse! He's such a natural considering mommy and daddy were such chickens. He wasn't scared at all.

He even rode the horse by himself for a while, while I was terrified he might fall off. He did great though! He didn't even slide to either side, he held on really good!

Here's Cecilio, and I quote, as he was getting on the horse, "Can horses sense fear?"

I was reluctant to get on but surprised by how fun it was! The horse's name was Huckleberry, he's actually Marcy's horse. He was such a sweetheart! We fell in love with him. We really had a nice time and have decided we have to make time to go out there more!

I didn't get pictures of our dogs, Neo and Trinity but they really enjoyed the ranch too. They've never been outside without a leash so they were in heaven. Trinity, the little one, was very adventurous and was all over the place. Neo, on the other hand was a big chicken! As soon as he saw the horses he jumped inside the truck and would not come out!

Thanksgiving Day

What a beautiful day! I have to say we had a very nice Thanksgiving. (Eventhough we really missed family and friends that were out of town.) We started out the day by going to the parade. Even though there was rain in the forecast the Lord blessed us with no rain during the parade. It's kind of funny, towards the end of the parade it started to sprinkle but other than that it was perfect weather. The parade was lots of fun. Danny really enjoyed it. He enjoyed the giant balloons the most and anything that was shaped like a ball really caught his attention. We found the perfect spot right next to a church where we could sit, or stand if people got in our way. It was awesome! I'm surprised more people weren't looking for spots there.

After the parade was over we went over to Grandma and Grandpa Jessup's for our first Thanksgiving meal of the day. It was delicious as usual!

Marlene and Luke

Little Luke is almost as tall as Danny and he's only ten months old!! He's a Jessup for sure.

My poor brother. He got his car stolen at the parade! Talk about a memorable Thanksgiving! I'm so sorry Daryl! Despite it all, here he is trying to enjoy the Cowboys game.

Later that evening we went to my Grandpa's house. It was nice seeing the family.
